When we're closed

Urgent advice: In an emergency call 999

An emergency is a medical or mental health situation that may be life threatening.

Non-urgent advice: Non-emergency care

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Non-urgent advice: Pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.

Non-urgent advice: Emergency dental treatment

We are not trained to deal with dental problems. This includes toothaches, abscesses and problems experienced after dental treatment. We cannot provide antibiotics for dental problems as these need a full assessment first.

We suggest patients register with and regularly attend a dentist for checkups and treatment.

To see a dentist in an emergency or out of hours, call your dentist - if they're closed, their answerphone may tell you what to do.

If you do not have a dentist:
